[Incentivized Review] Almost Perfect

It senses your presence when you sit on it and begins to heat the seat and water to provide a light, pleasant stream, either to the front or backside. After you feel clean there is a button to gently dry the area. All this is amazing, but waits there is more.....a UV light that kills bacteria, and a nightlight that make those late night strolls a bit safer. I am pleased, very pleased and feel it was worth installing a GFCI wall plug nearby. However, I do wish that it came with a remote or wall touchpad. It can be difficult to hit the correct button while seated at night without my glasses! There are other models with remote controls with the same features but at a higher price point. So, I created a cheat-sheet and taped to the wall until I get use to the feel of where the buttons are located. This is a high quality, well designed electric bidet toilet seat.

[Incentivized Review] You won't go back to a regular seat!

I've installed many bidet seats for clients and the universal reaction is "why did I wait so long?" The Kohler C3 155 seat is a full featured bidet seat that is a great value for the price. While a bidet seat can be a little intimidating at first you quickly learn to use all the features and how to customize it to your needs. The seat does not function unless you are actually sitting on it so that's the best way to learn. This seat has both front and rear sprays that can be adjusted to your needs. All adjustments are made on a keypad on the right side of the seat and you will quickly learn to adjust by feel with a little practice. Many seats offer a remote but personally I don't see the necessity.
You can adjust up to 6 levels of heat on the seat surface and the water temperature, and the blow dryer feature is strong and effective. I thought the deodorizer feature was probably a marketing ploy but it actually works noticeably well. There is also a built in blue light for finding the toilet in the dark which gives it a high tech glow and feel.
Once you get past being intimidated by a smart seat you really will enjoy the features and wonder how you ever relied on paper before. These are also great for homes on septic systems because not flushing paper is a big load off your system.

[Incentivized Review] Gotta Love This Seat
one startwo starsthree starsfour starsfive stars
Per Kohler's installation manual this bidet requires a 120 volt 15 amp dedicated line with a 15 amp GFCI outlet placed within 32 ins. of the bidet seat. I don't have that. I also don't have an attic and I don't have a basement. Installing this line will require a few hours in a 3 ft. high, dirt floor, crawl space. In the spring I'll do a proper installation but for now this is getting powered up with a 12 ga. 20 amp extension cord plugged into a 15 amp GFCI outlet in the next room.

The installation of the seat is very simple, the only tools you'll need are a flat head screwdriver and an adjustable wrench or a pair of pliers . Remove the old seat, clean and disinfect the bowl, screw down the new mounting bracket and snap on the seat. The mounting bracket has a large range of adjustability to get the seat positioned just right. The water connection is done with the supplied chromed metal "T" fitting placed between the supply line and the toilet tank. The water feed from the bidet screws onto this fitting. Plug in the power cord and you're done. They also included a supply line, from the tank to the "T" fitting, in the event yours is iffy. I replaced a non-electric bidet seat and was able to reuse the old "T" fitting.
The seat has a built-in safety switch which disables all function until it senses weight on the right side of the seat. The LED control panel offers a ton of features. Front cleaning (3 pressure settings), rear cleaning (3 pressure settings), automatic wand extension for manual cleaning, dryer (3 speed settings), heated seat (3 temperature settings), water temperature (3 temperature settings), oscillate / pulsate spray, manual UV sanitize button and deodorizer button. There's also a very cool night light which can be switched off if you don't want it.
For cleaning purposes the seat is easily removed from its mounting bracket with a push of a button. If required, the self-cleaning stainless steel retractable spray wand can be cleaned manually with a soft bristled brush and hot water. There's also a 45 minute UV disinfecting cycle which activates automatically once every 24 hours. My well water has a high sediment content, I have filters throughout the house, Thankfully Kohler included a removable filter screen to trap the contaminates before they reach the water reservoir.
The seat's a pleasure to use. No more icy cold water, although, that was an eye opener first thing on a winter morning. I lived in Europe where bidets are a common fixture and I can assure you that once you own one you'll appreciate this appliance.
Kohler includes a 3 year limited warranty from the date of installation for normal residential use.

Easy to install

I was having back surgery, so I decided to buy. I had an electrician install outlet by toilet. Then I installed the Toilet seat. Just shut off water first. Easy installation/instructions. Water heats up, different nozzles, air dryer. It is time consuming. So just relax and enjoy.

[Incentivized Review] Feature rich, but shortens effective length of seat

Installation
Is relatively simple. Parts are included for mounting on toilets that have either the tradition seat mounting holes or the newer threaded insert type. The process required removing the existing seat, and attaching the bidet using its own bracket. The bracket is designed to allow the bidet to be slid on and hold it in place. There is a mechanism that allow it to be slid off for cleaning as needed.

The process required removing the existing seat, and attaching the bidet using its own bracket. The bracket is designed to allow the bidet to be slid on and hold it in place. There is a mechanism that allow it to be slid off for cleaning as needed.
My unit will sometime not click into the bracket on one side and need to be pushed in repeatedly before it clicks in and is secure.
The water connection is also straightforward. A T-Piece is supplied that allows the connecting tube to be attached to the toilet supply. So one has to shut off the water to the toilet, unscrew the supply hose and add the new T-piece and water line.
The seat end of the water pipe has a metal fitting on the end which has to be screwed onto a nylon threaded connector on the underside of the seat. It was rather hard to get it onto the fitting and I was worried that the force I had to use to get the thread started would break something. I managed to get it on and thread OK, but it made me double check that it was the right size fitting initially.
The biggest hurdle to installation is of course having a power socket close enough for the unit to be plugged in. I added a new duplex outlet on the wall at the height of the toilet tank. The location was close to a power line running past in the basement below which made the job relatively easy. If you are building or renovating, add GFCI power outlets near the toilets. For existing bathrooms you may have to have an electrician install an outlet for you. Once that is in place it is just a matter of plugging in the unit in.
I installed the seat on an American Standard one piece toilet. Being very tall, I much prefer the long seat standard over the older round seats. This bidet unfortunately makes the usable length of the seat substantially smaller. The seat has rather a strange slope dowards from the back to the front and one ends up sitting much further forward, which is my case is too far forward.
Usage
The bidet has a good set of features. It has the front and back wash options, a dryer blower, a deodorizer, a cleaning mode and it even has a night light feature that fills the toilet with a wonderful blue light when the room is dark. Automatic cleaning is performed every 24 hours.
Certain functions have settings to control the characteristics of the seat. For example you can control the temperature of the seat, and the water. You can control how hard the water sprays and if the sprayer oscillates. The front to back position of the wand is also adjustable.
The settings and controls are all made through a panel on the right hand side of the seat. I find the control panel a little far to the rear and I have to twist around to look back at it. The status of the settings are all indicated with LEDs but they use a peculiar coding system using 3 lights and various flashing modes to indicate the current setting. The documentation states that the status lights are displayed on the remote control, but there is no separate remote and I assume they are referring to the control panel itself or some other model that comes with a remote display. The instructions do not describe what the flashing and non flashing lights indicate. I think that a flashing LED indicate “plus half” so one light and one flashing means 1.5, 2 steady lights = 2, 2 steady and the third flashing = 2.5 and three constant = 3, etc.
I have taken off one star for the shortening effect of the seat. We have another bidet seat that does not reduce the length as badly.
I took off another star for the insecurity of the seat clipping onto the bracket. With improvement in those two areas it would be much better, and if the length is not too critical for you, just ensure it is properly clipped in.

It did not work!

The rear and front cleaning nozzle malfunctioned. It does not work and I already paid plumber 200.00 to install it. Where is the culpability and buyer protection in a case like this.

The dual benefit of cleaning your behind as well really doesn't work well -you still need tissue
one startwo starsthree starsfour starsfive stars
Having purchased and used this bidet for 4 months - all the electronic functions do work without fail. However - the rear wand sprayer doesn't clean as well as expected. You still have to use toilet paper.
Bidet advertizements would lead you to belive you won't be using much toilet tissue- not true.
The other "front sprayer" is fine for female use. I' ll give 4 stars for easy install and 4 stars for quality.
