Bidetful in the bathroom / Buying tips

When we travel, particularly in Asia, the better hotels all have bidets. At first you feel like you are climbing onto a mysterious rocketship. Then, after playing around with the controls, you realize this Euro-inspired bathroom innovation really makes sense. At $400 ,how does this Kohler rate?

When we travel, particularly in Asia, the better hotels all have bidets. At first you feel like you are climbing onto a mysterious rocketship. Then, after playing around with the controls, you realize this Euro-inspired bathroom innovation really makes sense. At $400 ,how does this Kohler rate?
Is it a fair value?
First, this is not a low priced unit. It makes several smart design choices however. These include warming the water to a temp of your choice, and a nifty nightlight inside. Before deciding to buy a better bidet like this one, be prepared to do some plumbing and electrical work. Realistically, you will need a plug outlet behind the toilet. You can wire yourself or bring in an electrician. We opt for a skilled handyman. The plumbing part of the job is quite simple. A diverter splits the water line heading to the toilet and moves one new line of water up to spray your crotch area.
Which features are important?
This one has a front and rear wash. If you think of the reasons you take a daily shower, the bidet may ultimately save you some water so you can skip the shower sometimes. The included inner bowl nightlight is not a necessity but we think it’s great.
Which features are not needed?
Personally, I feel a remote for a bidet is dumb and not hygienic, either. Once you get the feel of the positions of the controls on the side, you’ll remember and would never think of needing a remote. No remote with this model.
Comfort:
Bidets add the plumbing just below where you sit so they tend to angle upwards. This Kohler integrates with the included seat but the added angle is still comfortable. You won’t feel like you may fall in like with some bidets!
Toasty tushie:
The seat heats up. Come on in! The water is warm.
An unexpectedly bidet bonus:
If you like to linger in the bath, and are curious about relaxing over the bidet for some personal pleasure time, this strength controlled Kohler is a wonderfully friendly new addition to your creativity.
