A Good Fit for Me

I looked at six or seven different bidet seats online, and decided that the Delta's measurements were the best fit for my toilet--even though it is not an elongated model. Installation went smoothly except for one problem with the supply hose requiring a trip to Rona, but that was in no way the fault of the bidet kit. Installation went smoothly except for one problem with the supply hose requiring a trip to Rona, but that was in no way the fault of the bidet kit. For most people, it should be a 20-minute job requiring only a screwdriver and an adjustable wrench. The adjustable bracket makes it pretty easy to adjust the seat's position to your particular toilet. And being able to quickly remove the seat entirely for cleaning is a nice feature.
Once everything was in place, it was time for a test. I found both the aim and the pressure of the nozzle to be spot on--although this being my first bidet, I don't have much to compare it to. I'm a male, so I'm only using the "rear" nozzle. I'll ask for additional commentary from my female guests.
I'm writing this in the dead of winter, during an unusually long (for Vancouver), sub-freezing cold snap. The unheated water is, shall we say, bracing. Especially after multiple tests. But as I live alone and the toilet routinely goes several hours between uses, the water has time to warm up to room temperature for most uses. For all but a few weeks of the year, I don't think I'll miss having a heated water supply. I don't have an electrical outlet anywhere near my toilet anyway, so it's not going to happen.
Already, I know I'm never going back to toilet paper. This is so much more effective.

It's a game changer

This is a hard review to write without being TMI, but here goes. I love my new Delta Bidet toilet seat. It was easy to install, the retractable nozzle is wonderful for keeping it clean and sanitary. For people who suffer conditions that result in frequent trips to the bathroom, this is a game changer. I no longer have to use flushable wipes (much better for our plumbing), and it leaves me feeling cleaner, to boot.
At first I was concerned that cold water only would be a problem, but the spray is on for such a short time, it doesn't really bother me. Highly recommend this product.

Great value non-heated bidet

Maybe TMI - I was suffering from post-Covid GI problems and was raw from frequent wiping with high quality toilet paper, so I decided to try a bidet. This appears to be solidly constructed and was easy to install. The only issue for installation was that my toilet had a rigid water supply line. I had to buy a flexible water line to accommodate the difference in distance between connections (adding this bidet shortens the distance for the supply line). I live in Florida, so my “cold” water is a constant 72 degrees and is comfortable for bidet use. I image unheated water for this use would not be so comfortable in Norther climates where ground water can be in the low 40s temperature. I found it easy to get used to a bidet and have been using it for a couple of months now. It resolved the issue I was having, and I prefer the cleaner feeling versus using paper. I find a little paper is necessary for drying, as this unit does not have a dryer fan. It is easy to remove the seat for thorough cleaning of your toilet. I think this product is an excellent value and recommend it.

Easy setup, solid engineering

We wanted a heated water Toto washlet, but unfortunately getting an outlet in the bathroom meant getting a city permit, HOA approval, electrician, and city inspection lol. And extension cords are meant to be temporary. Oh well, a dream for another house.
So after days of research, we decided on a cold water model, and went with this Delta unit.

So after days of research, we decided on a cold water model, and went with this Delta unit.
This thing is packaged like a luxury product. Everything is neatly encased in foam wrap and plenty of molded filler to keep it safe in transit from drops and dings. The plastic bags for the components is also thick and sealed, so that gave me confidence that everything was brand new from the factory. I’ve had products like clothing and hygiene products bought on Amazon that were clearly used. Gross. So off to a good start.
Installation was super easy and 20 minutes. Just needed a flathead screwdriver to unscrew old seat, and a Phillips screwdriver to put the new one in. Plus a little cup to hold a few drips of water when connecting the water supply.
The baseplate is really well done, it adjusts side to side and also front to back, to get the right fit of the lid to the toilet. At first, my install fell short, where the lid was not aligned to the bowl, but it’s super easy to detach the seat from the base plate with a quick release button. I pulled the base plate all the way forward and the fit was aligned.
It might be good for Delta to put a “this side up” and arrows pointing to the tank on the baseplate, but figuring it out only added a couple of minutes, based on the easy to follow instructions. Also it’s common sense to flush the toilet and turn off the water supply before starting, which I did, but we all have our moments where we might forget and hurry through. So that could be something else to add.
I liked the looks of the polished metal fittings on the hose, and all the connectors were easy to attach and screw in by hand. There’s a disposable plastic cap to keep the gaskets in the fittings, as well as a note in the instructions to doublecheck the rubber gaskets are in the connectors before screwing in. This prevents leaks and I appreciated the attention to detail on this important step.
Overall I can tell there is a lot of thought by the engineers that has gone into this unit.
Usage is solid. Water pressure is good in both back and front modes. The dial is easy to use and has a nice audible and tactile click when you return it to the off position. You get the same cleanliness as any washlet. The room temperature water is actually refreshing, so not that big of a deal to not have. Maybe those with ice cold water, it might be a much bigger deal in the winter.
Overall, a huge upgrade from using regular toilet paper. The level of clean you get with a washlet is beyond anything you can get with paper, even using wet wipes.
Someday we’ll live the dream of having the heated dryer, air freshener, and heated seat, but for now this Delta unit is a solid choice with zero complaints.
