There is a substantial gap even though they have a "zero gap promise". Using the toilet seat will put undo stress on the plastic and cause cracking. Functionality of the bidet works well.

After receiving advice from one of my friends about how much they liked their bidet, we decided to give this one a try. The installation was easy. The cold line hooked up quickly, and depending upon your access to your hot water supply line under your sink (i.e., inside a cabinet or in the open), the hot hooks up just as quickly. The self-cleaning feature is nice. As for its function, it works as intended and you'll never feel cleaner. For those that are fans of hygiene, once you start using this, you won't want to go anywhere else.

You may have to buy some extra parts (reducers) to complete installation but my husband says it was easy to install! I appreciate that you can adjust the water pressure by lifting the handle slowly until it's the right level for you. It can really spray, so be sure to lift it slowly unless you want to get punched with water! The pressure can get high enough to give you an enema. The option for feminine wash is also great and makes staying clean during my period a lot easier. Going from no bidet to having one is a big change, and has been quite welcome. I'd definitely recommend this, especially if you want a bidet with hot water and are on a budget.
