While not my first experience with bidets, this is the first one I was allowed in the house. While leaps and bounds better than the basic bolt on cleaners spraying cold water it doesn't have all the bells and whistles of higher end bidets with remotes, natural sounds and driers. Still at half the price of top shelf units this ended up being a fantastic buy for comfortable freshness. Overall I'm impressed with the Aquawash. It's easy to install with the supplied bracket, provides great cleaning, includes intuitive controls, comes off with the push of a button for cleaning and adds additional creature comforts (heated seat/water and lighted bowl). One thing I'll add as a pro vs other reviews - I like the chime while it's operating. As a father of small children it's an added safety net - though they're good at turning it off. There's a lot to talk about so let's break this down into a few parts: Installation: Getting the old seat out was the larger challenge. Once removed the new seat went in easily with two rubber inserts going through the seat mounting holes on the toilet which secured the mounting bracket with two bolts/washers. To align the seat I 1.) Left the bolts a little loose 2.) Clicked on the seat 3.) Moved it to where I wanted 4.) Used the one button release to remove the seat 5.) Tightened the bolts For the plumbing you simply remove the connection to your toilet bowl then connect the provided splitter and hoses. My only caution (and critique) is the fittings are regrettably plastic. Make sure you're not cross threading them when they go on. Otherwise just enough pressure to seal then another 1/4 turn was my approach. Review of the seat. Creature comforts - This is one of the benefits of a full seat based unit vs the bolt on sprayers - added comforts. There are two buttons on the left side controlling heated water and seat. Press once for low heat, press again for higher heat and press one more time to turn them off. Each setting is displayed by an led off (off), low heat (dimmer light), high heat (brighter light). Sitting on the toilet runs the water to ensure the system is primed with warmed water when you need it. Easy of use - The dial is illuminated (as is the bowl) sufficiently for night operations without messing up night vision. The control itself is very simple turn the knob forward to activate front cleaning and to the rear for the other cleaning. The more you turn the dial the greater the pressure. Easy of cleaning - On the right hand side simply press a button and the toilet seat slides off. Clean where you will and you can also activate the toilet while aiming it at the bowl to clean the nozzles. The supplied hose is a little long to make this easier which I didn't realize as a pro until the first time I cleaned the bathroom Intuitive design - There's not much more to be said than my 5 year old daughter figured this out on her own before I even told her there was a new toilet seat, let alone a bidet. She even turned on the heated seat and made sure the water was off before leaving it. Here are my high level takeaways Pros: 1.) Loaded with features at a great price point 2.) Intuitive design 3.) Great creature comforts (winter is coming) 4.) Easy install - Took about 10 minutes 5.) Illumination for night time utilization Cons: 1.) Plastic fittings - I can/will replace the splitter but the lack of a metal connection to the unit is the only part I found disappointing

[Incentivized Review] Easy installation

Just installed it today took me 45 minutes. Works good like the heated seat but would probably like the remote buttons more

Great Low Profile Bidet Seat That - While Not Perfect - Can Work On A Round Toilet.

After receiving a Toto bidet seat as a Christmas gift, my husband and I have become converts. These things are a total game changer in feeling clean and fresh all day long. With this new “enlightened world view” my husband and I set out to convert all of the remaining toilet seats in our domain. Unfortunately as we began to add up the number of toilets in our two homes and the associated costs we began to consider alternatives. We began reflecting on what features were the most important to us and which ones we could live without. The American Standard was less expensive and looked promising so we decided to purchase it to test and compare with our more expensive Toto. We installed it in the powder room of our main home and we’re pleasantly surprised. While it lacks the features of a remote control, dryer, bowl pre mister, air deodorizer, presets, etc, it has the features that we want and use the most. It also produces a larger spray of water than the Toto which we prefer. It fit great on our powder room’s elongated toilet and we couldn’t have been more happy with our decision. We also have cottage which has a Kohler Memories round toilet. Since it’s round and not elongated we initially thought that the American Standard wouldn’t work. We strongly prefer the look of a low profile bidet seat (especially on a round bowl) but the only ones we could find were by Toto and they were running around a grand. Having been so pleased with our American Standard bidet seat we took some measurements and decided to take a chance and see if we could make it fit on our round toilet. The installation went great and fits with plenty of room! The bidet seat’s shape isn’t a perfect match for the round bowl but we decided that it matches up well enough for our casual beach cottage and the overall appearance was pretty good. If American Standard would ever consider making the more perfect round shaped seat available we will replace it in a heartbeat! Until that time we will happily live with this one and possibly upgrade to the more expensive round Toto model down the road once this one has lived out it’s useful existence. Since I wasn’t able to find any photos of this American Standard seat mounted to a round toilet I’ve added a few shots to this review so people can see what it looks like.
